In January 2027 BT Openreach will be switching OFF the public switched telephone network.
So all future calls will be made over the internet.
What does this mean to you? Well, if you still have either analogue lines or ISDN lines into your business, they will need to be upgraded to a digital solution, which is faster, more secure and ultimately more useful to your business.
The change will also affect everything that plugs into an analogue wall socket, so includes Fax lines, PDQ machines and alarm lines.
You won’t be able to order analogue or ISDN lines from September 2023, as Openreach rolls out full fibre across the country to replace the old copper network. It’s called “stop sell” and helps ensure Openreach meets their target to phase out all existing analogue and ISDN services over the next two years.
How does this affect you? If you’re still using ISDN2 or ISDN30, or legacy broadband products such as ADSL or FTTC these will need to be upgraded to either an IP (Internet Protocol) enabled product or to a broadband product which is delivered without the traditional dial tone..
The good news is Integral Communications customers who have invested in a Unify OpenScape Business solution can simply replace their analogue lines and ISDN lines with SIP trunks. We can enable this straight forward process for you, AND in most cases, you can keep your existing telephone numbers.
Some customers may prefer an OpenScape Business cloud based solution possibly on a pay-as-you go basis (PAYGO) giving you ultimate flexibility for scaling up or downsizing by site. Alternatively you can have your own private cloud network, or you can host it securely in a datacentre, the choice is yours.
